show your dorky pride...

Image
Calling all apron lovers (aka dorks)! Get you Apron Pride t-shirts.  Aren't these t-shirts so much fun? My friend Christie designed them. And people have actually asked us if they could buy one (weird, I know. If you want one click on the link at the right side of this screen, if you can't find the link - you've spent too much time on the internet and should probably put down your mouse and go read a book)  I have to explain where the name ( Apron Dorks ) originated from: My sister-in-law invited me to a "come-buy-stuff-so-I-can-get-free-junk" kickback party at her house a couple years ago and I took my friend Rachel with me, when Ashley first saw Rachel she didn't offer the usual (Hi. Nice to meet you, bla , bla , bla ) - she said, "Are you one of those apron dorks?" Well, we embraced the term and if you've spent any late nights sewing with us, you would know we proudly own the term. It doesn't get much more slap happy or dorkier the...

pirate party postponed

Image
Because I am a slacker mom & have way too much on my plate... I had to postpone James Pirate Party. Since I threw Paige a Civil Rights Tea Party last month, I was planning on throwing a James a Pirate Party on President's day (say that five times fast) since the kids were out of school, but I got side tracked & didn't get it planned out as well as I needed to. So instead we went to Makutu's Island which I think was probably a better choice anyway. We took James, his best friend Cade (and Christie watched Abbey for like 5 hours), and Paige and spent about 2 & 1/2 hours there. It made it worth the admission cost, but it was kind of boring for me to sit there next time I need to take a friend or laptop I can blab to. James was like a bolt of lightning. I would see flashes of him here & there. Cade followed Paige around like a puppy which made her day. She loves to call the shots - all in all they had a great time. Anyway, after Makutu's Island I asked...

our latest addition

We have finally outgrown our lil VW Passat . After careful consideration we decided we couldn't cram 3 kids in car seats in the back and since it is paid off it would be nice to not share a car with my motorcycle riding husband when the weather isn't so peachy. So we are keeping "Snow White" for Jason's communing needs and his motorcycle for... (not so sure of the reason here.) We knew we needed something bigger then a sedan, but with gas prices so high I didn't want anything that would cost more then my mortgage to fill up every week or so. My friend Abbey told me about the Honda Pilot and how fantastic it was bla , bla , bla . I wasn't too interested - until my dad came to AZ and was helping me car shop. Once I did a little research on gas mileage of minivans & SUV's and all the different makes & models and actually test drove one, I was hooked. It is great. We bought a used 2003 sea foam greenish color. Paige & James are debating ...

Potty Training Update

Image
Well... It's been almost a month since we started. The only thing I've learned is endurance. From what I surmise and have learned from talking to other "potty trainers" you have to be dedicated. That's about it. If your going to do it - you have to commit yourself to a month. James went through 4 cycles : 1. This potty training is a cool new thing & I get free trains - yahooo! I can do this 2. It's really not cool anymore - I don't really care if my underwear is wet or not, I really liked the diaper. When I can I have it back? 3. Am I wet? ohhh... I hadn't noticed . Oh, ooops I just peed on my mom's lap. Sucks to be her. 4. Okay. I guess I will go on the toilet if she reminds me . I do hate washing out my own poopie underwear. Maybe someday I will be fully trained. Who knows? My 4 cycles: 1. We can do this. We are a team. So what if I have to do 16 loads of laundry a day. I can handle it . The trains were pricey but after this week it will...

dark clouds looming

I'm not sure that I agree with the saying that it' darkest before the dawn, when it was raining for 40 days don't you think some of the animals of little faith were just about ready to jump overboard. It is so damn hard not to abandon ship in hopes that things will eventually work out. Dear friends & stalkers, I am talking about potty training. My friend Christie said it's really not up to the kid, but greatly depends on the parents determination. That is so TRUE!!! I am not the "Lance Armstrong" of dedicated parents. I slack off more then most - this potty training thing has just about done me in. The second day of PT we had 2 poopies that didn't really seem to bother him. I smelled him & made him go. He might have waddled around for hours if it were up to him. He will go if I take him, but he doesn't tell me before hand and most times it after the fact, not a little sprinkling but a full on flood. We were at Joann's today and I only noti...

New to this and probably boring.... zzzzz

My friend Chelsea and I said the only reason we don't blog is because we thought our blogs will be boring, but we loved to read everyone else's. This one will bore you to sleep - I promise... but my husband is a hottie and I do have amusing and cute kids that I will try include through pictures to even out the lack of original thought. This is all in an effort so you can make sarcastic comments that will fly high over my head. Looking forward to many lame posts from me - yours sincerely, Maren
