don't let the bed bugs bite

This what I found outside my bedroom door about 11 pm last night. James has never been a good sleeper. 6pm naps, waking up at 5 some mornings, rarely staying in his bed for the entire night, actually sleeping through the night is pretty much unheard of... that's my difficult sleeper.

But moments like these... I wouldn't trade him for the best sleeper. He is my James and I just figure I will train him to get up with the baby and Jason & I can get a good nights sleep for once.

What a stinking cutie patootie, he wants mommy and daddy. I love this post so much, I am laughing so hard right now. We all need laughter, as much as we need sleep.

What a great moment to capture! Poor little guy, all tuckered out...you can almost tell that he was going to fight the need to sleep until the bitter end. He almost succeeded too!

Maren, did you purposely name your child after the 15th president of the United States,...who was a democrat?

Just wondered, in light of Presidents day I did some research. If you did, your son will be so cool for life. He's set in my opinion.

I do side more with the big D then the big R... don't tell anyone from Utah that or my brother-in-law who will hang mr up by my toenails. If it weren't for abortion issues.. I'd be more blue. I am kind of an ass at times. James was named after Jason's dad who passed away when he was 5. But Jason's grandparents are from Wisconsin and probably named Jason's dad after the president.

The nice thing about my Thursday appointment was knowing the end was in sight. Sunday morning 5:30am I was scheduled to be induced. So we cleaned our house like mad on Saturday and my kids spent the night at their grandparents. We were up and ready to go. Paige drew me this picture before we left. Right to left: New baby, me, nightstand with cookies & candy (does my daughter know me or what?) When we got there - I needed some serious help to get ready to have the baby. I was dilated to a 2 and my cervix was really thick. So they gave me some internal gels that caused me to contract, I went through a series of 2, which means 5 hours of hell. It hurt & was a crappy 5 hours - but then my best friend came along, the anesthesiologist and gave me the epidural. Then they started the pitosum , which caused additional labor to set on... a Christmas wish answered... come September

So anyone who hasn't heard yet... yes. The Buchanan's are going to have a baby come this September. I'm not sure how it happened (yeah. I get the mechanics... I do have 2 kids) - But it's just that Jason & I don't really see too much of each other and after an exausting day of work, school, being on call, preschool, doing homework, research for thesis, paying bills, sewing group, YW, and kids, all you really have energy for is sleep. So I really think I give credit to Paige for this one. She has put in countless hours praying, wishing, and begging for a baby for the longest time. All her hard work millions of wishes on stars and countless letters to Santa apparently paid off. (She's got a lot of clout with the bearded fella - so if you want something for next year you might want to bribe her early to include it in her letter(s)). That's it... I'm eight weeks and thrilled. We'll keep praying that everything goes smoothly & the baby is heal...

The final chapter of the Buchanan saga

It's official - we heard the heartbeat on Wednesday - this is the cause of my nauseated state of being 24/7. There is actually a little peanut causing all this havoc on my body. Everything seems to be going really well. My progesterone levels were low so they put me on a supplement and I'm trying to live with the side effects while Jason claims there are no big changes (I always break out crying, right? - ha, ha, ha) Actually, it does have a slew of side effects, but I seem to be affected by 3: sleepiness, irritability, and anxiety. Serious anxiety over the littlest dumbest things (makes me crazy) and it sucks that my one good quality (patience) is in short supply. Yesterday during preschool my kids were looking at me like 'why does she think she has to bribe us for every little thing?' - please, please, please put your shoes on, I will give you an m&m - come on just help pick up, I will give you and m&m - poor things.
