Potty Training Update


Well... It's been almost a month since we started. The only thing I've learned is endurance. From what I surmise and have learned from talking to other "potty trainers" you have to be dedicated. That's about it. If your going to do it - you have to commit yourself to a month.
James went through 4 cycles:
1. This potty training is a cool new thing & I get free trains - yahooo! I can do this
2. It's really not cool anymore - I don't really care if my underwear is wet or not, I really liked the diaper. When I can I have it back?
3. Am I wet? ohhh... I hadn't noticed. Oh, ooops I just peed on my mom's lap. Sucks to be her.
4. Okay. I guess I will go on the toilet if she reminds me. I do hate washing out my own poopie underwear. Maybe someday I will be fully trained. Who knows?
My 4 cycles:
1. We can do this. We are a team. So what if I have to do 16 loads of laundry a day. I can handle it. The trains were pricey but after this week it will be worth it.
2. This is a lot harder then I thought. Maybe it will take longer than a week. James will wash out his own poopies - maybe that will help.
3. This is the 7th circle of HELL. Dante must have had a 3 year old boy he was trying to pt when he wrote "Inferno" - I'm ready to embrace the diaper as a part of our normal existence.
4. So we're getting better. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have had to up my caffeine intake, but I think we might actually make it through... not any time soon, but I no longer want to hide from my son every time he wets his pants.
Take it or leave it - that's potty training. It sucks. Just pray you have girls... they are easy peasy rice and cheesey.

With a face like that, how can you be mad for too long? I guess if he pees on your lap, you could! You are a trooper and will be calling when it is my turn!

Don't say that, Cody has to be a good potty trainer, this is way had had 2 girls first. Hopefully he didn't pee on your lap except that once, it was kinda funny.

Abbey loves jumping out of the tub and streaking through the house every chance she can get. I found her in the bathroom brushing her teeth on such an occasion. Paige spent a Saturday with achievement day girls at the church. They did mini-classes and held a luncheon.  Paige came home wearing this cute banner that said "Miss Fabulous" - she had a goodie bag, a rose, and a pretty picture they had taken of her in a crown. What a gorgeous princess! A few days later we had a princess day. Actually once a week we have boys/girls day. Where the kids get a play date. These girls got all dolled up. They had a blast. our baby has "indoor plumbing"

The nice thing about my Thursday appointment was knowing the end was in sight. Sunday morning 5:30am I was scheduled to be induced. So we cleaned our house like mad on Saturday and my kids spent the night at their grandparents. We were up and ready to go. Paige drew me this picture before we left. Right to left: New baby, me, nightstand with cookies & candy (does my daughter know me or what?) When we got there - I needed some serious help to get ready to have the baby. I was dilated to a 2 and my cervix was really thick. So they gave me some internal gels that caused me to contract, I went through a series of 2, which means 5 hours of hell. It hurt & was a crappy 5 hours - but then my best friend came along, the anesthesiologist and gave me the epidural. Then they started the pitosum , which caused additional labor to set on... a Christmas wish answered... come September

So anyone who hasn't heard yet... yes. The Buchanan's are going to have a baby come this September. I'm not sure how it happened (yeah. I get the mechanics... I do have 2 kids) - But it's just that Jason & I don't really see too much of each other and after an exausting day of work, school, being on call, preschool, doing homework, research for thesis, paying bills, sewing group, YW, and kids, all you really have energy for is sleep. So I really think I give credit to Paige for this one. She has put in countless hours praying, wishing, and begging for a baby for the longest time. All her hard work millions of wishes on stars and countless letters to Santa apparently paid off. (She's got a lot of clout with the bearded fella - so if you want something for next year you might want to bribe her early to include it in her letter(s)). That's it... I'm eight weeks and thrilled. We'll keep praying that everything goes smoothly & the baby is heal
